JANOU BEAUGEAIS is a Sydney based author with a special interest in women’s fiction and French literature. Her employment as a secretary, teacher, day care mother, translator, editor and writer in both France and Australia and her experience as a student, wife and mother, have given her a wide and varied life experience.

Janou grew up in the Loire Valley in France and has travelled extensively in Europe and around the world. She has lived in Paris, Brisbane, Perth, Noumea and finally Sydney, where she has completed undergraduate and postgraduate studies. After the death of her French husband, she decided to stay in Australia with her two daughters. She is now married to an Australian.

Chère Isabelle is her first full-length novel, although excerpts of this have been published - as well as short stories - in anthologies such as Beyond the Echo, under the name of Françoise Chaimbault.
